RCP statement on NHS Clinical Commissioners new report: 'Local solutions to national challenges - Delivering our commitment to patients’

The RCP welcomes the latest report by NHS Clinical Commissioners 'Local solutions to national challenges - Delivering our commitment to patients'. The RCP shares the report’s commitment to long-term planning and collaboration across the system.

The RCP’s own report, ‘Putting the pieces together: removing the barriers to excellent patient care’ highlighted many similar concerns within the commissioning and payment landscape in England, where too many patients still faced fragmented care as a result of fragmented structures and fragmented payment systems.

The NHS Clinical Commissioners report makes a welcome contribution to the evidence that NHS systems need to enable doctors, nurses and others on the front line of the NHS to deliver the safest, most effective care, in whatever setting which is most appropriate for each patient’s needs.
