The Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine
The Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine was established as a Faculty of the RCP in 2006 to develop and maintain the highest possible standards of competence and professional integrity in forensic and legal medicine. The specialty covers professionals working in three related disciplines: forensic medical practitioners (forensic physicians, forensic pathologists, sexual assault examiners, and child physical and sexual assault examiners); medico-legal advisers; and medically-qualified coroners.
The Faculty of Occupational Medicine
In 1978 the Faculty of Occupational Medicine was inaugurated as a specialist faculty of the Royal College of Physicians of London. The FOM is a charity committed to improving health at work. It is the professional and educational body for occupational medicine in the UK and seeks to ensure the highest standards in the practice of occupational medicine. Its vision is healthy working lives for all.

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine
Founded in 1989, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine is a Faculty of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK (Edinburgh, Glasgow and London). Its mission is to advance the science and practice of pharmaceutical medicine by working to develop and maintain competence, ethics and integrity and the highest professional standards in the specialty for the benefit of the public. The FPM seeks, through its activities, to bring about an improvement in the health of the public.
The Faculty of Physician Associates
The Faculty of Physician Associates was founded in 2015 with the collaboration of the RCP and the UK Association of Physician Associates. It provides professional support to physician associates across the UK. Members of the faculty are part of a professional membership body campaigning for progress and change in the profession, advising government, and taking part in national debates on medical, clinical and public health issues. The FPA reviews and sets standards for:
- the education and training of physician associates
- physician associate national certification.
The Faculty of Public Health
The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) is a registered charity and a joint faculty of the three Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (London, Edinburgh and Glasgow). FPH is a membership organisation for nearly 4,000 public health professionals across the UK and around the world. Its role is to improve the health and wellbeing of local communities and national populations.
The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (FSEM)
The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (FSEM) UK launched in 2006 and is the governing body for the specialty Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) in the UK. It is an intercollegiate faculty of the Royal College of Physicians of London and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Its strategic mission is to promote better health for the public through excellence in musculoskeletal medicine, exercise medicine and team care. The FSEM (UK) also represents and supports Sport and Exercise Medicine as a cost effective approach to the prevention and management of illness and injury.
